Volkswagen convertible. First
introduced in
1995 as a
replacement for the
Cabriolet, the Cabrio's
target market was
successful professional women who hadn't had a
convertible as a
teenager.
The first year the Cabrio had lower sales than expected, perhaps because VW overshot the market. Later models were lower priced, without a huge sacrifice in features.
The Cabrio embodies Volkwagen's fahrvergnugen philosophy; the ragtop is easily manipulated by one person, and the car corners beautiful, while providing a smooth, low ride.
