A Polish powdered pastry, also known as "Chrusciki"

A delectable fried confection...

Beat together the egg yolks, rum, granulated sugar, and vinegar until frothy. Add enough flour to the egg mixture to make a semi-soft dough.

Divide the dough in half. With a generous amount of flour, roll the dough out to an eighth of an inch thick. Cut out strips about 1 inch by 3 inches. Slice a slit about 3/4 of an inch long in each strip. Put one end of the strip through the slit and pull through completely.

Fry the dough strips in hot grease for about 10 seconds on each side or until the strips are lightly brown.

Drain the kruellers on paper towels and sprinkle liberally with confectioners sugar.

Crul"ler (kr?l"l?r), n. [Cf. Curl.]

A kind of sweet cake cut in strips and curled or twisted, and fried crisp in boiling fat.

[Also written kruller.]
