A.K.A Deconic Swearing
Escape words are words used in place of obscene or sacrilegious swear words. They are usually based on actual swear words, and are used when a real swear would be inappropriate. The use of an escape word may indicate that the individual has good code switching skills -- although in some cases the escape word is barely inserted in time: "Oh sh...sugar".
