Extroardinary weapon of the ancient Irish warrior Cuchulainn. The gae bulga was a spear or harpoon with retractable barbs. The barbs could be extended once the spear was inside flesh, causing large amounts of damage in removing it. Gea bulga translates to "Spear of Bulga." Bulga was the Irish god of lightning. Cuchulainn was said to be the only warrior who was able to use the gae bulga, aside from his teacher, Scathach.
