I miss the chlorine scented shimmer I chased in my teenaged years. Content, swimming behind my friend Carli. Sluicing through the mercury bubbles she left in her wake, solitary.

Swimming is different without pointed toes to reach for. Lonelier, quieter, and less visually pleasing. The water feels the same, and my muscles still stretch and thrum with the same intensity. The silver flurry of bubbles simply made it incredible, and I ache to recover that feeling.
