Packing bubbles are also known as bubble wrap. In the military, we used to wrap every component with this stuff. We'd buy four to six rolls at a time. Each roll was 3 feet wide and about 150 feet long.

Bubble wrap now comes in different colors. The colored ones normally signify that they are anti-static. Normally, the color is pink or a reflective silver. Regular static-generating packing bubbles are clear plastic. You can get these in different bubble sizes. Large bubbles are for large items or for filling a partally empty box. The small bubbled version is used for delicate or small items.

The bigger bubble versions are easier to pop in an annoying fashion.
