Progg is
good music. It's
music you've never heard of, since you're probably not
Swedish. It's not
progressive rock or
progressive music. As the previous noder noted, it was a
leftist
musical movment in
Sweden in the late
60s and
70s.
The
progg movement was incredibly diverse, it encompassed everything from
folk music and
ballads to
rock and
experimental. What differentiated it from other music was that it was
leftist,
alternative and
non-commercial
Among famous bands are:
Nationalteatern
Blå Tåget
Hoola Bandoola Band
Turid
Mikael Wiehe and
Björn Afzelius, members of
Hoola Bandoola Band, have also done a lot of stuff on their own.
Peps blodsband (
reggea på
skånska!) is famous music from the same period, although it can't be called
progg since Peps published his music on a
commercial record company.
Less famous bands that this noder loves are:
Gudibrallan
Träd, gräs och stenar
Philemon Arthur and the Dung
Fläsket brinner
Kebnekajse
