You know. When amoebae push bits of themselves out to form false feet (what pseudopod means). Like when liquid is spilt on a table, and it snakes out an arm to try and escape off the edge onto your lap. If the cell was a stretchy rubber sack filled with rods that are continouously reconnecting and moving around, the pseudopod is formed when the sack is pushed and deformed into a smooth domed arm like process.

Pseu"do*pod (?), n. [Pseudo- + -pod.]
