Swept volume in an internal combustion engine refers to the amount of space a cylinder uses in one complete cycle. It is the product of the engine bore and stroke. Which technically synonymous to displacement, or cubes, it is more correct from an engineering point of view, because it better describes what happens inside a cylinder.
