Techno duo on
Warp records. Comprising of Andrew Weatherall and Keith Tenniswood (both formerly of "Sabres Of Paradise"), Two Lone
Swordsmen's first major release was "Swimming not Skimming" in 1996. After a few low key releases ("Stockwell Steppas", "Stay down" and "A Virus with Shoes" among others) they gained much critical acclaim (and a hugely increased following) with their
2000 album "Tiny Reminders". 72 minutes long with 19 tracks, it takes inspiration from
artists such as
Kraftwerk,
Plaid and
Boards of Canada. As with many
instrumental bands they suffer from occasionally stupid track titles (witness 'Rotting Hill
Carnival' and 'It's Not the Worst I've Looked... Just the Most I've Ever Cared') which often have no relevence to the
music itself. This was followed in
2001 with remix album "Further Reminders"
Two Lone Swordsmen also suffer from a name that brings up awful puns in the press ("The duel in techno's crown" - NME).
Wetherall is a known producer (famous for Primal Scream's Screamadelica) and has therefore TLS have done much remix work with artists such as David Holmes and Beth Orton.
