'Excempt', informative programs (news/sports), talk - and music shows.

'Children', programs specifically intended for kids under the age of 8 years. These programs may contain occasional non-realistic violence but no nudity nor coarse language.

................C8+

'Children over 8 and not older than 12 years', these programs must be suitable for the mentioned range of ages. Violence is allowed, as long it is infrequent and the consequences 'morally' displayed. Includes animated violence and special effects.

'General', these programs are meant for the whole family including younger viewers. Therefore the programming should contain little violence.

.................PG

'Parental Guidance', while intended for the general public, these programs are not meant for kids under the 8 years. Kids above 8 years old have to be 'supervised'. The programming may contain controversial themes or violence, but above all the consequences of these actions may not be minimized.

................14+

'Over 14 years', programs may contain violence, although parents are adviced to 'exercise discretion'. Programming can deal with mature themes, but violence must be integral to the storyline.

................18+

'Over 18 years/Adults', programs contain violence nudity or coarse language.


American classification

.............TVY

'TV for all Children', these programs are meant for kids between 2 to 6 years old. Programs should not be frightening.

.............TVY7

'TV for children above 7', for children who know the difference between make belief and reality. Themes may include mild fantasy and comedic violence.

.............TVG

'TV for general audience', programs that kids are allowed to see without parents. The scenes in these programs may contain little violence.

.............TVPG

'TV, Parental Guidance', programs that may contain violence ('moderate'), and some sexual scenes or suggestive language.

.............TV14

'TV, Parents strongly cautioned', these programs are unsuitable for kids under 14 years old, and contain intense violence, sex or coarse language.

.............TVMA

'TV for mature public only', programs unsuitable for kids under the 17 years old, containing explicit violence, sex and language.
