I feel I must update Pseudo_Intellectual's w/u about SSI.


As stated, SSI stands for Strategic Simulations Incorporated.

SSI has existed for many years as a developer for the serious strategy fans. Their most well known games include their foray into the development of games based on the D&D and AD&D pen and paper games, and their extremely popular Living Battlefield and Five Star General series.

SSI, unfortunately in a time, when the sales of games is more determined by the abundance of eye candy than on brilliant development, suffered a constant decline in sales.

The company is considered the old man of gaming development. They have weathered a lot of bad times and continued to survive in one form or another over the past 25 years or so. Though in recent years they were aquired by Mindspring, which was in itself eventually aquired by Matel, SSI has continued to produce games.
