For those that don't know, quite a few of Duke's quotes were originally spoken by
Ash in
Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and
Army of Darkness, including:
I believe there are a few more, but they escape me. When I rewatch the Evil Dead trilogy, I'll write them down and then add them here. Anyway, Ash was the
original badass that said these lines, but
Duke is
cool enough that I'll let it slide.
And just as a
side note, even though
Doom was
multiplayer, I think Duke3D was really the first game to actually stress balanced multiplayer gameplay.
Quake would later take that a step further, and bring it to the
internet, but the first
exciting multiplayer
FPS has to be Duke3D. Perhaps the fact that my coworkers and I would map out the office in the (included) Build editor and then Duke it out in our boss's office had something to do with it... not sure. I suppose that's another thing that Duke3D helped pioneer -- included level editors. Even if you didn't care for single player or level design, Duke3D is a great investment for those that just enjoy
LAN parties. It's up there w/
Quake and
Descent when it comes to multiplayer.
