The five "C"s (idea)

Also used as a colloquial term to describe the extreme form of commercialism existing in Singapore.

The 5 C's are:

• Cash
- 'nuff said.
• Car
- Again, self-explanatory. Oh, and size does matter.
• Condominium
- In the land-scarce island, this is already considered living it up. Must have private swimming pool.
• Credit Card
- At least a VISA gold card, more than two is normal, platinum cards are a bonus.
• Country Club Membership
- The median is having memberships in two local clubs and one overseas club (usually Batam, Indonesia).

Singaporeans view the possession of all these 5 items as a great achievement and some spend all their time in the pursuit of such material goods, sometimes at the expense of health and family.
