Actor, lyricist and composer most well-known for writing and starring in In the Heights, a Broadway musical.
Miranda began writing In the Heights at Wesleyan University during his sophomore year in 2000. Eight years later, it debuted on Broadway. The play covers two days in the lives of a Hispanic community in Washington Heights, and won four Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestra.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has also appeared as a guest star on television shows such as The Sopranos and House, MD. He is currently working on a hip hop concept album titled The Hamilton Mixtape, about the life of Alexander Hamilton. He performed a song from the album at the White House Evening of Poetry, Music, and the Spoken Word on May 12, 2009, where he played Aaron Burr. Check it out.
