Reading BlueCoat School is a private school which is over 350 years old and was originally founded by Sir Richard Aldworth as a boys boarding school, "unfortunately" the boarding house is going to be closed in 2001 due to lack of interest but the Day Boys will continue to attend. The first to fifth years are boys only, while the sixth form is mixed.
The school is situated in Sonning, a small village just outside of Reading in the UK, on a piece of land known as "Holme Park". It contains roughly 600 pupils and around 70 staff.
Grounds include 2 hockey pitches, 3 football/rugby pitches and 2 cricket pitches plus an extra 3 fields and some woods which lead down to the River Thames. Facilities also include 20 general teaching rooms, library, 8 science rooms, Gym, heated swimming pool, and Squash courts.
Extra-curricular activities available include the Combined Cadet Force, Rowing, Kayaking, Swimming, Archery, Shooting, Sailing, and many other activities.
The pupils tend to be very competitive, sometimes annoyingly so, an exam or test result is always followed by asking how each other did.
