Comic book character created by
Bob Burden. Sponge Boy resembles a little boy, maybe three feet tall, whose form has been crudely cut out of a flat kitchen
sponge. He appears to have no special powers, and to the best of my knowledge, no explanation has ever been provided for his existence. He is a good friend of the
Flaming Carrot.
Sponge Boy first appeared in the 1984 Aardvark-Vanaheim one-shot special A-V In 3-D, in a four-page story entitled "The Bandit Moons". He was kidnapped by the moons and remained missing until 1987, when the Carrot found him in the course of a surreal crossover adventure with Cerebus the Aardvark.
The Dralasites in the TSR science fiction role-playing game Star Frontiers reminded me of Sponge Boy, and my character for that game was a rather more trigger-happy version of him.
