a.k.a. hydropark

A great complex of entertainment and recreation establishments built on an island on River Dnepr, in Kiev, Ukraine. (900 hectares)

HISTORY
Back at the end of the 18th century, workers who made their money in Kiev began to settle on a small island on the River Dnepr, and called it Peredmistna Slobidka.

At the beginning of the 20th century St. Ioann Rylsky's Church was built near the bridge. Owing to regular floods that area sometimes was called "Kyivan Venice".

In autumn 1943 the Nazis burnt the settlement to ashes and now only the memorial reminds of it.
