Mama Kin was also the name of the club that Steven Tyler and Joe Perry co-owned with the Lyons Group in Boston. Located at 36 Lansdowne Street and started in 1995, the club was supposed to be a venue to support the local music scene in the city. After disagreements with the owners over the atmosphere, Aerosmith band members pulled out of the agreement and sold their options to the other owners. The band would have preferred a live music type feel for the place, but owners were determined to have a dance element to bring in revenues. In 1999 the club was renamed Lansdowne Street Music Hall and the Aerosmith memorabilia was removed from the club. It was completely gutted and renovated and the band refuses to revisit there.
