Sushi consisting of a small* block of steamed rice, topped with a slice of raw fish. There may be a small dollop of wasabi between the rice and the fish, and there may be a strip+ of seaweed wrapped around the narrow axis for stability.

A piece of nigiri should be eaten in a single bite if possible, although sufficiently dextrous eaters can bite nigiri in twain without causing a mess. Nigiri may be dipped into a mixture of soy sauce and wasabi for additional seasoning.
