I have a problem with the term "Knowledge Management" in that I have not yet seen a
product (software or system) which performs Knowledge Management functions that are an
improvement on existing
Document Management and
Workflow Management systems.
Up until recently, this hasn't really been a problem for me. I've just
laughed in the face of those who claim to be offering "Knowledge Management"
services because they could never
define what it is they are offering.
But now my new
employer tells me that I am offering Knowledge Management. My new employer can't define it, and doesn't know exactly what we will be selling. I don't like trying to sell
imaginary products. It tends to cause the clients to loose
faith in us and
avoid any future business.
Now do I have to laugh at myself until I find a new (more real) job??
