Duke of the Vendôme and Huguenot leader. Born 1518, died 1562. From 1555, King of Navarra (by marriage, 1548, to Jeanne d'Albret). Father of King Henri IV of France.

Antoine de Bourbon converted to Protestantism after his marriage in 1548, and became a leader of the Huguenots, but later (1561) returned to Catholicism.

Although he was never part of the inner circle of the Amboise conspiracy (1560) masterminded by his brother, Louis I de Condé, he supported Louis and made significant concessions in order to win his release.

Antoine de Bourbon fell in battle during the Protestant siege of Rouen in 1562.
