German concentration camp, located east of Danzig (Gdansk in present-day Poland). The camp was set up in September 1939 and from 1942 to 1945 served as the central camp of 146 different satellite camps.

A total of 106,000 prisoners were registered at Stutthof, mostly women. An additional 20,000-plus prisoners, mostly Jewish, were transported to the camp from the eastern zones and Hungary during 1944. The death toll at Stutthof was at least 65,000, in total.
