My favorite
capitalist. Turned his dad's
billboard business into a communications empire. Likes to start
Big Room flame wars - still living up to his "Mouth of
the South" nickname. Fairly
apolitical, but
right-wing loonies tend to scare the fsck out of him;
Asbestos Time! Puts his
money where his mouth is, whether he's buying up property for
conservation purposes, giving huge donations to the
UN, or starting new
cable channels to fill some (real or imagined) unmet
niche.
Of course, since I wrote this, things have changed. I'm not sure if Steve Case will Let Ted Be Ted the way Gerald Levin did. But I will always love Mr. Turner, even if I have to shoot him some day.
