Probably my
favorite album by
The Doors, and the last album
recorded while
Jim Morrison was alive.
1.
The Changeling - A rather forgotten piece of driving
rock. Morrison's
vocals on this are
excellent
2.
Love Her Madly - Neat drumming and
bridge on this one, played all over the place. Used in
Forrest Gump, as before
Jenny attempts suicide
3.
Been Down So Long - Prison Blues.
What more needs said?
4.
Cars Hiss By My Window - Another fantastic
blues piece.
"I can't hear my baby, though I call and call..."
5.
L.A. Woman -
lyrics and stuff below
6.
L'America - Long song full of
half-step and
diminished fifth intervals. Another cool
bridge
7.
Hyacinth House -
"Why did you throw the jack of hearts away? It was the only card in the deck that I had left to play." Softer, more poetic beauty
8.
Crawling King Snake - This is one I could do without. Straight blues feel, a little too angry for my liking
9.
The Wasp (Texas Radio And The Big Beat) - A masterpiece.
Thorough, yet
hollow,
sparse instrumentation and near-incoherent lyrics are what define this as a true Morrison piece.
10.
Riders On The Storm - A fine
track to end the album with. From rain to rain, this song has fantastic
guitar, and bright
keyboard, increasing the
mood of the coming torrent.
A
classic from
The Doors, track 5 on an album of the same name. Driving rock from beginning to end, with a powerful bass at "
Mr. Mojo Risin'". One of the longest Doors songs ever, and for good reason.
Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows?
Are you a lucky little lady in The City of Light
Or just another lost angel...City of Night
City of Night, City of Night, City of Night!
Woo!, C'mon!
L.A. Woman,
L.A. Woman
L.A. Woman Sunday afternoon
L.A. Woman Sunday afternoon
L.A. Woman Sunday afternoon
Drive thru your suburbs
Into your blues, into your blues, yeah!
Into your blue-blue Blues
Into your blues, ohh, yeah
I see your hair is burnin'
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar
Drivin' down your freeways
Midnight alleys roam
Cops in cars, the topless bars
Never saw a woman...
So alone, so alone
So alone, so alone
Motel Money
Murder Madness
Let's change the mood from glad to sadness
(instrumental break)
Mr. Mojo Risin',
Mr. Mojo Risin'
Mr. Mojo Risin', Mr. Mojo Risin'
Got to keep on risin'
Mr. Mojo Risin', Mr. Mojo Risin'
Mojo Risin', gotta Mojo Risin'
Mr. Mojo Risin', gotta keep on risin'
Risin', risin'
Gone risin', risin'
I'm gone ridin' right in
I gotta risin', risin'
Well, risin', risin'
I gotta, wooo, yeah, risin'
Woah, ohh yeah!
Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
With a little girl in a Hollywood bungalow
Are you a lucky little lady in The City of Light
Or just another lost angel...City of Night
City of Night, City of Night, City of Night,
Woah, C'mon!
L.A. Woman,
L.A. Woman
L.A. Woman,
You're my woman
Little L.A. Woman,
Little L.A. Woman
L.A. L.A. Woman Woman
L.A. Woman C'mon!
