Affliction, the first full album by Vancouver band Econoline Crush, is a very moody and depressing album. Focusing on feelings of despair, fear, and hopelessness, it masterfully portrays a picture of a man against the world, against the world and losing.

  1. Nowhere Now
  2. Blunt
  3. Wicked
  4. Emotional Stain
  5. Close
  6. Blood in The River

  11. Affliction

The final track of the album, also called Affliction is a song about abusive relationships both with drugs and other people. It speaks strongly of the degradation that occurs when someone doesn't break out of such a relationship in time and suggests that it is the victim's fault as well.

There I'm on the edge
Of something more than what I knew
I've traded my burdens
For habits I can't cure
Gather up my enemies
Bring them to the feast
Dancing in the circle
As they crucify me
Falling down again...don't be late
It's my time of reckoning
Misery my friend
I'm spending all my time with you
Reflection in the mirror
Of someone I once knew
Take me to the gallery
And push me to my knees
Begging for forgiveness
As the chorus judge me
Falling down again...don't be late
Its my time of reckoning

You've taken everything
Oh, you never get enough
Imtimidate, you violate, humiliate me
You just can't let it be
You're coming back for me
Push me down
Push me down
Hurt me again
You crawl in me, exist to feed
You watch me bleed
You're punishing
Consumed with greed
You empty me
No, No, No, No...

Dive it deeper, go on
Just push it in
Fill me with infection
Your affliction in me
Oh your sadistic need
You're coming back for me
Push me down
Push me down
Hurt me again
You crawl in me
Exist to feed
You watch me bleed
You're punishing
Consumed with greed
You empty me
No, No, No, No...

Smothered in this addiction
Your affliction, is drowning me
