I was locked in an old sanitarium that was also an extension of a neighborhood church. The building was made of nothing but stone, and the patients were left to run amuck wherever they wanted. I stumbled into a courtyard where priests had lined up half a dozen young boys in school uniform. Each priest was carrying a cane, and at the same time they started using them to bash the young boys in the head. One by one, the boys fell into a well behind them.

The well washed into a river in the nearby town. Parents and neighbors found the boys beaten and floating in the water. They began a myth, similar to the goat sucker of Puerto Rico, that there was a monster out to kill the town's small boys. Distraught citizens would turn to the church for guidance, being counseled by the same priests who had very recently murdered their sons.
