An Australian folk singer and songwriter with an extraordinary powerful, soaring voice of great gravity and purity. She sings on issues of social conscience, and now practises law as well as singing. In both roles she works for justice and peace; and is also a campaigner for gay and lesbian issues.

Many of her songs, some now classics of the folk repertoire, such as Mothers, Daughters, Wives are about social issues of both the past and the present. Some are comic as well as perceptive, such as the one about the IPD, the Intra-Penile Device, and how it would affect relations between the sexes.

She was born in Coffs Harbour, NSW, and started on the circuits in Sydney folk clubs in the early 1970s.
