Kind of like Spitting is an independent rock band featuring Ben Barnett as the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter, and a cast of many others (varying from CD to CD and song to song.) Ben and his different lineups have been playing music in Portland since the mid 90's. Presently on Barsuk records, they have years of experience under their belt. Over the years, they have released 7 cds on different record labels (Jealous Butcher, Hush, Barsuk, and others), as well as several EPs and 7"s.
The latest cd which was released on Barsuk, titled Bridges Worth Burning, was recorded by John Goodmanson, who has also worked with Sleater-Kinney, Team Dresch, Unwound, and Low. The cd pulls from balladic "emo" influences, as well as Barnett's D.I.Y. Punk influences, and at times sounds like an odd mix of Bright Eyes and Fugazi. The CD also features Ben Gibbard of the band Death Cab for Cutie (also on Barsuk.)
