Kochi Kame is a
manga,
television cartoon, and
movie that follows the misadventures of
policeman Ryoutsu Kankichi.
The Kochi Kame manga regularly appears in Shuukan Shounen Jump and is available throughout Japan. Kochi Kame has been published for probably over 20 years and can be used as a historical reference for political, fashion, fads, and overall Japanese culture over the last 20 years.
The Kochi Kame cartoon can be seen every Sunday at 7pm on Fuji Television channel 8. It is such a famous manga that various Kochi Kame souvenirs can even be bought at Tokyo station and stations in and near Katsushika Ward.
Unfortunately, I have never seen anything about Kochi Kame in English. Kochi Kame is short for
“Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo”
(The Katsushika Ward, Kameari park police box). .
