Mr Jolly Lives Next Door is one of the
infamous Comic Strip Presents stable of comedy shows. Revolving around the antics of the two disgusting
alcoholic owners of the Dreamytime
escort agency (played by
Rik Mayall and
Adrian Edmonson although you never find out their real characters names) who when given £3000 by local
gangster and car-lover, Mr Lovebucket , accidentally spend it on 1568 large gins instead of delivering it to their
neighbour Mr Jolly (played by
Peter Cook) the owner of the Mr Jollys
Fluffy Toy Company (an
office that is really a front for his
hitman business) so he can 'take out'
Nicholas Parsons. This is an absolutely ridiculous but brilliant
film and the the closest thing to a link between Ade and Riks work as
The Dangerous Brothers and
Bottom
Memorable quotes include:
(Ade)"Heime Henderson has just had a consignment of exploding tonic water delivered ....what a wacky off-licence that must be...."
(Ade and Rik chanting when someone knocks on the door)"Escorts, Bestcorts, come in if you're saucy"
(Ade)"I can smell alcohol!!"
(Mortician)"That's just embalming fluid"
(Ade)"Barmy fluid! ....that sounds brilliant!!
(Rik)"Who Dares Gins!!"
(Nicholas Parsons) {when asking about Riks tie-breaker answer}"So what was you winning entry"
(Rik)"Never, Ever, Bloody Anything, Ever!"
