Authorized Version | Psalms | Psalm 119

ג GIMEL

17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.
21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

From the Great Bible, 1540 edition (known as Cranmer's Bible). Set in the Book of Common Prayer, 1662, for Evening Prayer on the twenty-fourth day of the month.

Retribue servo tuo.

O do well unto thy servant : that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes : that I may see the wondrous things of thy law.
19 I am a stranger upon earth : O hide not thy commandments from me.
20 My soul breaketh out for the very fervent desire : that it hath alway unto thy judgements.
21 Thou hast rebuked the proud : and cursed are they that do err from thy commandments.
22 O turn from me shame and rebuke : for I have kept thy testimonies.
23 Princes also did sit and speak against me : but thy servant is occupied in thy statutes.
24 For thy testimonies are my delight : and my counsellors.

From the Vulgate, where it is listed, according to the Catholic manner, as Psalm 118.:

Retribue servo tuo vivam et custodiam verba tua.
Revela oculos meos et videbo mirabilia in lege tua.
Advena ego sum in terra ne abscondas a me mandata tua.
Desideravit anima mea desiderare iudicia tua in omni tempore.
Increpasti superbos maledicti qui recedunt a mandatis tuis.
Aufer a me obprobrium et contemptum quoniam testimonia tua custodivi.
Etenim sedentes principes adversum me loquebantur servus autem tuus meditabatur praecepta tua.
Sed et testimonia tua voluntas mea quasi viri amicissimi mei.

The psalm in either case may be followed by the Gloria Patri.
