amenorrhea: absence or failure of the menstrual periods.

The absence of, or the abnormal stoppage of, menstruation. "Primary amenorrhea" is when menstruation fails to begin at puberty. "Secondary amenorrhea" is when menstruation stops occuring after the menstrual cycle has begun.
