An improvement over the traditional stop-motion animation techniques, created by John Dykstra for Star-Wars in 1977.

Unlike stop-motion, where movement appears choppy, go-motion utilizes a computer to add blur to each scene. This mimics more precisely the natural behavior of a real moving object caught on camera.

Today, go-motion (and stop-motion) have been made obsolete by CGI, but some say CGI will never be able to convey the nostalgia and surrealism of the old stop-motion movies.
