Medical term describing a part of the body where skin-on-skin contact may occur. These include the regions between fingers or toes, the groin, under the breast in adult females, armpits, and folds of skin in the obese. Chafing and the opportunity for moisture to accumulate affects the type of microbial flora present and the kinds of disease which may occur in these regions.
