Outward bound is a school for camping, hiking, rock climbing, canoeing and other outdoor experiences.

They teach leadership skills and other stuff, too.

Other outdoors-oriented places like this include the Wilderness Education Association (WEA) and National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

To expand on "leadership skills and other stuff":

Outward Bound teaches the ideals of stewardship, self-reliance, and zero-impact camping. I've done a backpacking course in Linville Gorge, and I absolutely loved it. We learned knots, how to properly pack and balance a pack, how to cross a river upside-down on a rope and take the rope with you when you're done, and the fine art of eating icicles to avoid dehydration. It has been probably the single most influential experience of my life thus far. If you have the time and the money, I highly recommend it. If not, at least buy yourself a pack and get out on the Appalachian Trail (or the Pacific Crest trail if you're a West Coastie). Mountains are good for you.
