A particular
ache that is the surviving reminder of some part of you that has been
walled off in a
last-ditch, desperate
firebreak-like method of containing
anguish. When you bury a part of your soul or emotional self deep, deep down in order to avoid the raw, sharp,
iron-tanged jolt of pain that would otherwise accompany every single instance of your conscious attention traversing its naked and
weal-like intrusion into your
psyche.
Sometimes such an amputation is reversible, and later in life you can develop the ability to exercise or experience this emotion with something approaching sanguinity; however, in other instances the amputation can be terminal, and nothing short of strong drugs or therapy involving amperage will ever work loose the scar tissue in your brain under which this particular facet of human existence has hidden itself.
