This was a phenomenal hit album, to be followed by nothing of any consequence for 15 years from Meat Loaf. It seems to be the case that Meat Loaf only sounds good when he's singing the wonderful songs written by Jim Steinman.

The songs are fairly long, as suggested by the fact that there are only seven songs on the album. The titles are also generally long, typical of Steinman work.
