This morning I sifted through the river bed of my thoughts for a few golden nuggets.

• My girlfriend and I got a two course meal for a fiver at a Mayfair restaurant courtesy of some newspaper vouchers. How romantic.
• We blagged our way into a photography exhibition opening party by Max someone and got free champagne.
• Salman Rushdie was there chatting to beautiful girls.It was strange seeing someone famous up close. They never look quite real.
• We ended up extremely drunk in All Bar One on Charing Cross Road on Conu Sur Merlot.
