A group from from 60's called The New Christy Minstrels put out a song labeled Today. This song appeared in called "Advance to the Rear" staring Glenn Ford, Stella Stevens, Melvyn Douglas, Joan Blondell, Jim Backus, and Andrew Prime. Today's peak on the Billboard charts was #17 in 1964. Both lyrics and music was written by Randy Sparks, one of the Minstrels members.

This song has a special place in my heart because of the many times I heard it while growing up. I grew up as a girl scout for most of my life, with my mom as my scout leader. When we would go camping my mom would make us sing this slow beautiful song to help us remember the time we spent together. Also later in life I attended Humming Bird Music Camp, every week the night before we left we would have a dance and before we went back to our bunks we would all join in a friendship circle, hands crossed, and hold everyone else’s hands. Then we would go around to all the counselors and teachers and let them tell us a little something. Before we broke the whole camp would join up in a song of Today.
