The Walt Disney World Monorail System is the most popular mode of
transportation at
Walt Disney World. The system has 15 miles of
monorail track which can support up to 12 trains. The system has 6
stations and moves over 150,000
people per day.
The system is broken down into three lines:
Express Monorail - A direct service between the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom
Resort Monorail - Runs parallel to the Express Monorail but includes stops at the Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort, and the Disney's Grand Floridian
EPCOT - A direct service between the Transportation and Ticket Center and EPCOT.
The current Mark VI monorails were built by Bombardier and went into operation in 1990. An updated version of this design is being used for the new monorail in Las Vegas.
Monorail cast members are great people and remain cheerful even though they are required to wear maroon shorts.
