In the world of
Windows, a
printer is not actually the machine that creates
paper versions of your
electronic data. That's a print
device. A printer is the
software interface between the print device and the
operating system. But that's different than a print
driver, which is the software that allows the operating system to communicate with the print device. A printer pool is a series of print devices associated with a printer, and a print server is the network server on which printers are defined.
