I Move The Stones Beneath Your Feet (poetry)

Deep.
Beneath the waves.
Beyond the sands.
Past the stars.
Between the bookcase and the wall.

The city calls to you.

You have never been there,
But your spirit remembers.

You were a warrior.
You were a student.
You were a merchant.
You were a king.
You were a god.

Your eyes wander.

The sounds ring true,
But the sights have faded.

The past was forgotten.
The faithful were punished.
The weak were transported.
The lost remained.
The shadow reigned.

You earned your freedom.

The land never died,
You only drifted.

When you dream you return.
You build shrines to memories.

But the path is confusing.
The journey isn’t kind.

I move the stones beneath your feet.
