webcam (thing)

Some popular or otherwise famous webcams:

• The Trojan Room Coffee Machine at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory - this is probably the first webcam ever created. It shows a picture of coffee pot, so everyone there - or anywhere on the world - can see if there's any coffee left. This was one of the things that amazed folks greatly back when Web became popular. Also, it was the logical evolution of fingerable coke machines.
• JenniCam - one of the first, um, popular web cams with, uh, interesting c-c-content.
• Netscape Fishcam

Of course, there are zillions more these days... it's even relatively easy to set up one yourself.

(There used to be a registry of E2 user webcams... but that got somewhat too GTKYNsy so it got nuked.)
