Super Bowl VII|Super Bowl IX
January 13, 1974
The Miami Dolphins became the NFL's first Super Bowl dynasty team, making their third consecutive appearance in the championship, and winning their second in a row by handily defeating the Minnesota Vikings, 24-7.
A powerful offensive, led by MVP running back Larry Csonka dominated the game, while the Miami defense limited Minnesota to just one touchdown very late in the game.
Csonka set a new record for the Super Bowl with 145 yards rushing. Miami coach Don Shula became the second head coach (after Vince Lombardi) to win two Super Bowls, while Minnesota coach Bud Grant became the second coach (after, ahem, Don Shula) to lose two.
Attendance for this game was 71,882. This was the only Super Bowl to ever be played in Houston.
