Sex and the City (thing)

Through the eyes of a 21-year-old Finnish male specimen, the show seems to consist of the following straightforward elements:

• 4 women talking about men being stupid apes
• 4 women talking about having sex with the aforementioned apes
• 4 women using words you wouldn't hear if this wasn't an HBO show
• 1 woman coming up with supposedly witty theories about the world of dating, often going nowhere and seldom managing to sound much else than unordinarily shallow pop psychology.

I can't help but feel the series is aimed at people who start compulsively giggling whenever the word "penis" is uttered.
Then again, as one of the stupid apes I certainly don't belong in the target audience. So it's probably just me not understanding all the smart humor and delicate critique on the North American society.
