color space that can be used to produce all other colors when mixed together.
For example, on a computer, the standard color space is RGB (red, green, and blue). Using the 3 primary colors in varying ratios can produce more than 16.7 million different colors.
When dealing with pigments, red, yellow, and blue are the primary colors.
