Word emphasis can have a tremendous
effect on meaning. Note the difference between these (try
reading them out loud, with the
boldfaced word emphasized):
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
I never said he stole my chickens.
