LMI type (one of three) defined jointly by
Cisco,
StrataCom,
Nortel, and
DEC. These four companies worked together on
Frame Relay technology to accelerate
product interoperability. Extensions include virtual circuit status messages as well as three other optional extensions (
multicasting, global addressing, and simple flow control).
