• 1847 October 12th: Werner von Siemens and his colleague Johann Georg Halske found the "Telegraphen-Bauanstalt von Siemens und Halske" to market the first viable needle telegraph.
• 1848 S&H build Europe's first telegraph line from Frankfurt/Main (where the revolutionary Paulskirche Parliament resides at the time) to Berlin.
• 1850 Wilhelm Siemens, W. v. Siemens' younger brother, takes over the S&H agency in London
• 1853 S&H begin building the Russian telegraph network
• 1855 creation of the Russian Siemens subsidiary, led by Carl von Siemens
• 1856 W. v. Siemens develops the double-T armature
• 1863 first Siemens cable factory in Woolwich
• 1866 W. v. Siemens discovers dynamoelectricity and invents the dynamo
• 1870 Siemens-built telegraph line from London to Calicut opens
